John Dimitry’s retelling cleans up Rabelais for young readers while keeping the fun. Here are the first giants, the birth of Gargantua, the tailor’s staggering bill for his baby suit, his wooden horses and his Latin lessons, and then the boyhood of his son Pantagruel, left alone in his cradle while the whole court feasts below.
A cheerful way into one of the great comic works of the Renaissance, illustrated by Gustave Doré and Albert Robida. Download the free EPUB.
