When a baker accidentally mixes the Great Elixir into his dough, the life-sized gingerbread man he bakes, John Dough, comes to life. Pursued by people who want to eat him for the elixir’s power, he escapes across the sea, meets Chick the Cherub, the first incubator baby, and travels through islands of freaks, executioners, romance and the Mifkets.
One of Baum’s most inventive non-Oz fantasies, with characters who later visit Oz. Download the free EPUB.
