Drawn from the Jatakas, the ancient Buddhist birth-stories of India, these short animal fables are retold in simple language for young children. The monkey outwits the crocodile, a turtle who cannot stop talking comes to grief, quails quarrel, and a foolish, timid rabbit sets the whole forest running by announcing that the earth is breaking up.
A gentle first introduction to Indian fable, with a foreword by Felix Adler commending it to parents and teachers. Download the free EPUB.
