Three little gnomes make a home under a great fallen tree, a rattle brings happiness to a family, Grandfather Skeeter-Hawk tells his story, crows talk, and tiny Mr. and Mrs. Thumbkins and Sally Migrundy live their small lives at the edge of a singing stream. Each short tale ends with kindness rewarded in a world where fairies watch over the woods.
