Billy Bounce, a boy who bounces like a rubber ball, is caught up in the dark plot of Nickel Plate, the Polished Villain. His journey leaps through Shamville, Silly Land, Derby Town and Spookville, past hat trees with hat bands that play all night, Big Bug Bear, King Calcium, the Queen Bee and a volcano, with a pun on almost every page.
