The celebrated storyteller Marie Shedlock retells for children a group of Jataka tales, the old Buddhist birth stories in which the Buddha-to-be appears as a hare, a parrot, a monkey or a wise man. The hare that ran away, the monkey and the crocodile, the spirit in the tree and the parrot that fed his parents all teach gentle lessons, with an introduction by T. W. Rhys Davids.
Simple, beautifully told fables from Buddhist tradition, ideal for reading aloud. Download the free EPUB.
