With school over, Frank tells his mother he wants to be what his father was, a lumberman, and goes north into the Canadian forests for a winter in the camps. He helps build the shanty, learns the work of the woods beside the French-Canadian Baptiste, and keeps his faith and good conduct through hard labour and danger.
Lumber-camp life in nineteenth-century Canada, told for boys with a clear moral purpose. Download the free EPUB.
