Written to show young readers how fast naval science was advancing, this imaginary tale pictures a future war in which the United States faces the great powers at sea. Young Oscar takes command of the submarine Holland XI and, with his friend Andy and a loyal crew, runs through shellfire, torpedoes and pursuit for Uncle Sam.
Patriotic future-war adventure from 1899 by the creator of the Stratemeyer Syndicate, a curiosity of early submarine fiction. Download the free EPUB.
