Dan Hardy works for his board and clothes under Mr. Savage, a miserly farmer who never stops scolding. A dangerous bull, a mysterious stranger, an old blacksmith and some counterfeit money set events moving, and when Dan is accused of a burglary he did not commit, he must clear his name before he can make his way in the world.
