Young Tom, whose story begins with a wreck on the Gorton Sands, grows up by the Norfolk Broads in the care of his Uncle Bob, and goes to sea in the Royal Navy just as Nelson is rising to fame. Stables, a former naval surgeon, mixes boyhood sailing, examinations, life below decks and the battles of the French wars with Nelson’s own story.
Patriotic naval adventure in the Henty manner, for young readers who love tall ships. Download the free EPUB.
