Frank Norris, a Westminster schoolboy, befriends a crippled lad and his foster mother and is then falsely accused of theft. He leaves England for New Orleans and the Mississippi, joins a wagon train across the salt plains, and works the gold diggings of California, while at home lawyers search for the missing heir of old Captain Bayley.
Henty at his most adventurous, combining a London mystery with gold-rush peril. Download the free EPUB.
