A wartime English inventor is never short of schemes, and every scheme goes wrong in its own way. A smoke machine coats the long-suffering Noakes in soot, a gas device nearly creates a vacancy in the battalion command, a road clipper flings its riders into the hedge, and a cold water cure ends no better.
A light-hearted change of pace from a writer best known for boys’ adventure, illustrated by C. E. Brock. Download the free EPUB.
