A young Englishman goes out to the Punjab, takes service in the troubled Sikh kingdom, and finds himself caught up in the wars of the 1840s that ended with British annexation. Henty’s preface praises the Sikhs as a brave and independent people, and the story moves through intrigue at court, ambushes on the road and great pitched battles.
A classic Henty adventure, written from the British imperial point of view of 1894. Download the free EPUB.
