Left in charge of the express office on the eve of the Fourth of July, Bart Stirling refuses to let surly Lemuel Wacker smoke where he pleases or barge into a locked room. That small stand earns him an enemy with ten years on the B. & M. railroad, and as Bart takes up the express agency in earnest, he finds that honest work invites trouble.
A brisk Stratemeyer-era tale of pluck and enterprise for readers who like their heroes self-made. Download the free EPUB.
