Written by a kindergarten teacher who worked with children in a free kindergarten, these short stories follow little Johnnie Jones through ordinary days: a cookie, getting lost, a squirrel, the peach preserves, a valentine passed from hand to hand. A few bedtime tales his mother tells him, such as the princess and her pigeon, are mixed in.
Introduced in its day as a pioneering book of realistic stories for the very young, and still lovely for reading aloud. Download the free EPUB.
