Old Mother Duck once lived in a farmyard with a snappish watch-dog and a muddy pond, so she moved her six ducklings to a hollow tree beside a broad bright river. There the little ones swim, explore and get into scrapes, making friends with neighbours such as kindly Mrs. Muskrat, who has a surprise for Fluffy and Curly-Tail.
