A young man named Loughlin waits on a remote country platform in the blinding July noon, and a chance meeting changes his summer. The stories that follow include Alas, Poor Bollington, The Ballet Girl, Simple Simon, The Tiger and The Man from Kilsheelan, mixing rural English life, Irish characters and touches of fable.
An early Coppard collection, full of the strange, lyrical tales that made his name. Download the free EPUB.
