Charles Kent, a friend of Dickens who planned this record with his approval, describes the public readings that filled halls in Britain and America in the novelist’s last years. He goes through the repertoire piece by piece, from A Christmas Carol and the trial from Pickwick to David Copperfield and The Cricket on the Hearth, recalling how Dickens voiced each character.
