These 1903 essays gather the young Yeats’s thinking on what poetry is for: popular poetry and the Irish ballad-makers, speaking verse to the psaltery, magic, Shelley’s philosophy, Shakespeare at Stratford, Blake and his illustrations to Dante, the symbolism of painting and of poetry, the theatre, and the Celtic element in literature.
Indispensable for readers of Yeats’s poetry and of the Symbolist movement in English. Download the free EPUB.
