Kit Carson ran away from a saddler’s apprenticeship to become a trapper, hunter and guide, and later the scout of John C. Frémont’s expeditions to the Great Salt Lake, Oregon and California. Burdett’s life, drawing on Frémont’s reports, follows him through Indian fights, the conquest of California and frontier service.
A popular Civil War-era portrait of the archetypal Western frontiersman, celebratory in the manner of its time. Download the free EPUB.
