Laura Murdock, a struggling actress, has lived for years on the money of a wealthy New York broker. When she falls honestly in love with a young Western newspaperman, she promises to break with the old life and wait for him, but poverty, hunger and an empty boarding-house room keep pressing her back toward the easier road.
A frank story of a kept woman, turned into a novel by Arthur Hornblow from Walter’s much-discussed 1909 play. Download the free EPUB.
