On the same September morning, Professor Vincent Burgess of Boston comes to teach Greek at Sunrise College in Kansas and Vic Burleigh, an overgrown boy from a claim beyond the Walnut River, enrols as a freshman. Through storms, football, a college dean nicknamed Funnybone and rivalry in love, the two men from opposite ends of the country take each other’s measure.
A warm-hearted moral novel of small-college life on the plains, for readers of Kansas history and campus stories. Download the free EPUB.
