Waiting in the Manhattan port for a stratoship from Cairo, the narrator meets Steve Arnsen, his old college friend, once a laughing rakehell and now strangely changed. Over drinks Arnsen tells what happened to him among the asteroids, where a meteorite, a lonely prospecting ship and something crystalline and beautiful drew him toward a fate he still cannot shake.
A haunting space romance from 1942 by one of the great craftsmen of pulp science fiction. Download the free EPUB.
