Bain opens with the legend of Ráhu, the demon whose severed, immortal head causes eclipses by gripping the sun and moon, then tells a romance of love and jealousy in an ornate, pseudo-Sanskrit manner. Like his other Hindu tales, it was presented as a translation but is Bain’s own invention, dressed in the imagery of Indian myth.
