In 1829, at a chateau near Louviers, the old Bonapartist General de Grandchamp lives with his second wife Gertrude, his daughter Pauline and a young son named Napoleon. Both women love the same man, Ferdinand, a manager at the general’s factory, and Gertrude’s jealousy turns a domestic drama into something close to a crime.
