Deep in a pine forest a charcoal burner lives with his family, and his small son Peter is watched over by a cat with opinions of his own. A curious Grasshopper Man, a church-going household and a dinner-party of self-important guests come into the tale, which mixes fantasy, gentle satire and Christian feeling for children of any age.
A thoughtful Christmas story by Charles Kingsley’s daughter, best shared aloud by the fire. Download the free EPUB.
