Edward Costello enlisted in the 95th Rifles and fought through the Peninsular War under Wellington, at sieges such as Ciudad Rodrigo and Badajoz, and later at Waterloo. Years afterwards he returned to Spain as a captain in the British Legion in the Carlist civil war, and he ended his days as a Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London.
One of the liveliest ranker’s-eye memoirs of the Napoleonic Wars, full of comrades, guerrillas and hard campaigning. Download the free EPUB.
