Two friends, Hedonius and Spudaeus, debate what pleasure really is. Erasmus turns Epicurus on his head: the drunkard, the miser and the ambitious man live in misery, while only a clear conscience and a godly life give lasting delight, so that the true Christian is the real Epicurean. This version is an English translation printed in 1545.
