Presented as the diaries of a governess in the Krupp household, this is in fact wartime fiction about Bertha Krupp, the young heiress to Germany’s greatest arms works. It imagines her guardianship by Kaiser Wilhelm II, the scheming around her marriage and fortune, and her place as the War Lord’s right hand, written in 1916 to an audience at war with Germany.
A curiosity of First World War popular writing, best read as propaganda-flavoured romance rather than history. Download the free EPUB.
