Cherry Wilkinson, a farmer’s daughter, has read so many romances that she decides she must be a heroine of mysterious birth. Renaming herself Cherubina, she runs off in search of persecutions, castles and long-lost parents, searching her chamber for trap-doors and seeing assassins in every respectable lady she meets.
A brilliant parody of the Gothic novel, published in 1813 and admired by Jane Austen. Download the free EPUB.
