In Zandam by the Zuider Zee lives Nicholas Snyders, a hard, mean money-lender who loves gold only for the power it gives him to make others suffer. When he finds a way to exchange souls with the good-hearted young Jan, the miser wakes to find the world changed, and Jerome works out the consequences with gentle irony.
A short, fable-like tale by the author of Three Men in a Boat, ideal for a winter evening. Download the free EPUB.
