A fairy, explains Louise Imogen Guiney, is a humorous person sadly out of fashion. In chapters on household brownies, mine gnomes, dwarves, trolls, elves, mermaids, Puck and Will-o’-the-Wisp, she describes what the old tales said each kind of fairy was like, where it lived and how it treated the humans who pleased or offended it.
A charming tour of fairy lore by a fine Boston poet, for children and the adults who read to them. Download the free EPUB.
