Alexander Mackenzie collects the sayings attributed to Coinneach Odhar, the seventeenth-century seer of Brahan, sorting them into those explained by shrewdness, those unfulfilled, those doubtful and those said to have come true. He then tells the story of the Seaforth family, the Countess’s anger, the seer’s terrible prophecy of the end of their line and his death by burning.
