On the Southern frontier two men court two sisters, and one, Clancy, is shot and left for dead by his rival Darke. Reid follows the long aftermath out onto the plains of Texas, with messages left in a forest post-office, soldiers, hunters, missionaries and Indian raiders, beginning in a district of slave-owners whose differences he sets out in the opening chapter.
A rousing frontier tale from the master of Victorian adventure, carrying the racial attitudes of its time. Download the free EPUB.
