Shackleton’s own account of the British Antarctic Expedition of 1907 to 1909, in a shorter edition of his larger book. He describes fitting out the Nimrod, sailing from Lyttelton, landing stores at McMurdo Sound and the winter in the hut, then the sledging journeys: the long march south across the Barrier and up a vast glacier, and the parties sent to Mount Erebus and toward the South Magnetic Pole.

A great polar adventure told with modesty and humour by its leader. Download the free EPUB.
