Prince Serge Rénine, who may well be Arsène Lupin in another guise, rescues the unhappy Hortense Daniel and proposes a pact: together they will solve eight mysteries before the clock strikes eight on an appointed day three months away. The puzzles range from a tower and a water-bottle to a tell-tale film, a lady with a hatchet and footprints in the snow.
Some of Leblanc’s cleverest stories, mixing detection with romance and Lupin’s irresistible charm. Download the free EPUB.
