Mrs. Emmeline Lucas, known as Lucia, rules the village of Riseholme with Shakespearean pretensions, baby Italian and a single Beethoven movement. Her reign is shaken when the cultured set takes up a guru, a spiritualist and, above all, the famous singer Olga Bracely, while Georgie Pillson and Daisy Quantock scheme around her.
The first of Benson’s Mapp and Lucia novels, a cult classic of English social comedy. Download the free EPUB.
