Eighteen-year-old inventor Tom Swift Jr. is called in to fix a faulty gyro-stabilizer just as an earthquake shakes the region, and a strange hitchhiker and a report from Interpol draw him toward a much larger mystery. With his friend Bud Barclay and the cook Chow, Tom must deal with an energy visitor from a distant world.
