Frank Merriwell arrives at Yale as a freshman and is at once in trouble with sophomores and jealous classmates. Challenged and hazed, he fights, wins friends like the word-twisting Harry Rattleton, survives a roast at East Rock and a duel, eats at Morey’s and shines on the ball field, while a traitor in the freshman ranks is hunted down.
