In Perth during the reign of Robert III, Catharine Glover is courted by Henry Gow, the brawling armourer, and pursued by the reckless Duke of Rothesay, heir to the throne. Court intrigue, clan feuds and a Valentine’s Day misunderstanding build toward the great trial by combat between two Highland clans on the North Inch.
One of Scott’s later novels, full of burgh life and Highland drama, and the source of Bizet’s opera. Download the free EPUB.
