Written by the Scottish explorer of Masai Land for the series The World’s Great Explorers, this book traces what Europe knew of the Niger from classical and Arab writers onward, the founding of the African Association, and then Mungo Park’s own life, from his Borders boyhood to his two expeditions into West Africa and his death on the river.
