A cheechako is a greenhorn in the Yukon, and Service’s second book of verse is crowded with them, alongside the hardened sourdoughs who survived. Here are the Ballad of the Northern Lights, the Black Fox Skin, Pious Pete and Blasphemous Bill, the man from Eldorado squandering his gold in town, the prospector and the lonely telegraph operator.
Galloping narrative verse for anyone who loved ‘The Cremation of Sam McGee’ and wants more of the Klondike. Download the free EPUB.
