Fleeing the law at Argos, Conan leaps aboard a trading galley that is soon overrun by black corsairs under their queen, Bêlit. He becomes her lover and fellow raider, until a jungle river leads their ship to a ruined city, a sinister altar, the black lotus and a winged horror waiting among the stones.
