David Innes and the elderly inventor Abner Perry test a burrowing iron machine and break through into Pellucidar, a hollow world inside the Earth lit by an unmoving central sun. Cave men, monstrous beasts and the telepathic reptilian Mahars share its endless noon, and David, enslaved in the city of Phutra, falls for the cave girl Dian the Beautiful.
