Grinnell, who spent years among the Blackfeet of the northern plains, retells their stories for general readers. The antelope races the deer, Kut-o-yis the Blood Boy defeats monsters, a wolf man is saved, ghosts keep a camp of their own, and the people receive the thunder pipe, the buffalo stone and the first Medicine Lodge, ending with the Blackfeet account of creation.
