Brooding Sarah Newbolt, a poor widow, binds her son Joe over to a hard-handed farmer. The spark of ambition in the overworked lad, a stranger at the gate, a secret in the clover field and a killing for which Joe is blamed bring the rural community, and the colonel who takes his part, to a reckoning.
A strong rural melodrama of the Midwest by a popular Western writer. Download the free EPUB.
