Henry Inman, a veteran of the Plains, retells incidents he knew: General Forsyth’s fight at the Arickaree, a hermit priest on the old Santa Fé Trail, a race for life in the Indian war of 1864, a tragedy at Twin Mounds, and frontier rogues such as Wal. Henderson.
