Told in rollicking ballad verse, this tale follows Billy, a prairie farmer who quits plowing early the day the MacIntyres move in next door. Smitten with Nancy and jealous of his rival Jim Johnson, he blunders through a quarrel, a disappointment and a dangerous search through creek timber before Nancy tells her own story.
A charming novel in verse of the Kansas frontier, ideal for reading aloud. Download the free EPUB.
