The elegant gambler Jack Hamlin turns up at a lonely rancho in a rainstorm and finds himself mending a quarrel between husband and wife. Other stories in the collection take readers to a railway semaphore, Rocky Canyon, a flood at a roadside inn and a stagecoach full of children bound for Dick Spindler’s family Christmas, with Yuba Bill at the reins.
Late Harte, still rich in the humour and sentiment of his Western sketches. Download the free EPUB.
