Philip Christian, grandson of the stern old Deemster called Iron Christian, and the rough, warm-hearted fisherman Pete Quilliam grow up together on the Isle of Man as close as brothers. Both come to love Kate Cregeen, the innkeeper’s daughter, and ambition, loyalty and passion pull the three of them toward a crisis in a tight-knit island world.
One of the great popular successes of the 1890s, rich in Manx speech, landscape and custom. Download the free EPUB.
